Dear Mr. Sarkisyan,
Many Armenians have sent messages to you to stop signing the protocols with Turkey.
It seems that I am the first Turkish citizen to do so.
I am a retired Ambassador closely involved with our relations with your country. Actually, in 1992 I have negotiated the first prtotocol for entering into diplomatic relations. That attempt failed because of your aggression towards and occupation of Kelbechar region of Azerbaijan. That was the last straw of your seriak aggressions.
The draft protocols fail to take into consideration Turkey’s “red lines”. If they were enter into force you will not be deprieved of your signing the old song of the so-called genocide. Hencee, you will continue to be captive of your destorted mind set, in other words you will not be able to liberate yourselves from captivitiy. This means that you will continue to be a semi-independent country. As such Armenian will continue to depend on a third force which has been the case for centruires now. Don’t you thing that it is high time for Armenia now to be fully indepedent? Furthermore, if these protocols were to enter into force you will continue to day dream of a grater Armenia, the so-called “Wesetrn Armenia”. This claim ignors the fact you are able to provide your own citizens’ lifelihood. Over a million of your citizens left their “independent” country to seek bread money elsewhere, including Turkey. Over 70.000 of you citizens are working illegally in Turkey and sending their savings to their families in Armenia. (Our human feelings to let allow us to send these illegal worjers back, because we know that you cannot feed them, you cannot provide work for them.) This is the irony of Turkish-Armenian relations. You consider us your enemy, you educate your children accordingly and in return we feed your people. This is a humiliating situation for Armenian. I should add that contrary to the basic principles of international law you continue to occupy Azerbaijani territory which you managed with the help, support and all means of the third country on which you are depending.
I could write more. But that should suffice for a man occupying the seat of the president of a semi-independent country.
You will do a favour to my country and to yours too if you did not sign the protocols. We do not want to establish diplomatic relations with an aggressor country which does not show any sign of liberating itself from its self imposed captivitiy.
These texts are a disgrace for people like me who always wanted to establish honest, correct relations with Armenia. I am confident that there are Armenians sharing my views.

You say Armenia is the “aggressor country” – but isn’t Turkey the one who made it illegal to mention “genocide” within its borders? Didn’t the republic’s predecessors plan and execute the mass deportations and slaughter of 1.5 million people (mostly Armenians, but other minorities too)? Did not Stalin give Artaskh to Azerbaijan, and Artsakh is predominantly Armenian? Now I’ll be one of the first to admit that some Armenians have done some foolish things, too (planning to blow up embassies). But the biggest “aggression” of all is to continue denying the crimes of the past and trying to sweep it under the rug. The Turkish government still continues to stifle and attack the integrity of the Armenians as humans and those other victims of the genocide. If Turkey had come to grips, or if it will ever come to grips, with its bloody past, it would save a lot of anguish and heartache for people on both sides of the Armenian/Turkish border. All I have to say is that I don’t think it was an accident that my grandparents and many others’ ancestors ended up dispersed in other countries, while Turkey lost most of its Armenian inhabitants, following 1915.

I have seen President Sarkisian during my last visit to Armenia, he was the Prime Minister of Armenia at the time. I attended a ceremony honoring the teachers, his words impressed me and left a great impression on me, at the time. Since then and since he became president, I do not know what happened to this man. Why is he on a whirlwind world tour, where he is trying to avoid meeting and listening to the diaspora Armenians in France the US (New York and Los Angeles). It seems that he knows that he is taking wrong steps and thus being a traitor to the Armenian Nation (not the Republic of Armenia alone). I hope the President is not blind or deaf, I hope he does not suffer from some kind of mental illness. I hope he is not under some magical spell done by the Turks.
I wonder if the Armenian side used the expertise, advice and help of international law experts before agreeing to the Protocols. This is something accepted internationally. It happened, for example when Jordan and King Hussein negociated with the Israelis, they hired a British and a German international law expert and professor.
Coming to the issue with the borders, Willy Brandt’s Germany (FRG) when negotiating the treaties with East Germany (GDR) and the Soviet Union, left the door open for future changes in the current borders between the co-signing countries. The door was left open to future and peaceful changes of the existing borders/boundries. All that was useful, when the time came for the Berlin Wall to fall and the German Unification became a reality.
I do not know if the Armenian Government and the Armenian Diplomacy has riped and matured to these international levels, or if we are going to be devoured by the famous Turkish diplomacy that has tricked us and the world for centuries.
Empires, Kingdoms and Governments come and go, but the Armenian Nation will survive, no matter who is in charge, be it honorable man or a traitor.
I hope that our President knows something that we do not know and it will be to the benefit of All Armenian, in Armenia and the Disapora.

It seems to me that we are far smarter than our own government. They are engulfed by a ubiquitous cloud of ignorance that fails them to see the simple issue that trade can be opened without pre-conditions. In addition, Armenia’s economy will suffer more from the trade with turkey due to the trade gap between the two. Turkey exports 177 million dollars of exports to Armenia and Armenia exports only 2 million dollars to Turkey. They are more efficient, trade won’t help us, America fuels this due to oil, Russia supports America for once. We either must unite in arms because our cries aren’t being heard or we must attack with politics (which we failed because we lost our leverage). So it seems to me that our only option is to attack with arms. The destruction of the pipeline will destroy the protocol. The advancement into Azerbaijan will erase the protocol, however, once breached war may be waged.
