YEREVAN (Hetq)–On October 22, a number of Armenian environmental groups staged a demonstration outside the Armenian Government Building in downtown Yerevan, protesting the recently signed Armenian-Turkish protocols.
Police soon converged on the scene and started to rip posters from the hands of the protesters. The police claimed that the posters were “defamatory of the state” and ordered the crowd to leave the premises.
The protesters had intended to enter the building and proceed to the second floor offices of the president. Those plans were thwarted.
