Yerkir Media reported Friday morning that over 60,000 people in Yerevan participated in a procession to the Armenian Genocide Memorial Dzidzernagapert, urging Armenian President Serge Sarkisian not to sign the Turkey-Armenia Protocols. The rally, organized by the ARF, is the culmination of weeks of protests in Yerevan and in Diasporan communities around the world–sending a unified “Stop the Protocols” message to Armenia’s leaders.

The hunger strikers are approaching the 72nd hour of their strike. Spirits are high and the strikers are standing strong, but they need the support of the community. Tonight at 7pm, the hunger strike will pay homage to those who fought and laid their lives down for the liberation of Artsakh.

Like is being done in various countries of the world, Sunday 4th October was Uruguay’s turn to manifest against the protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey and it was made through a rally organized by the Armenian Cause Committee of Uruguay, at the monument which remembers the Armenian martyrs opposite Surp Nerses Shnorhali Church.

A group of Armenian youth in Toronto held a rally at the Armenian Community Center in protest to the Turkish-Armenian Protocols on Friday, October 2, 2009. The youth rally was organized by the Armenian Students’ Associations of York, McMaster, Waterloo, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus, and Ryerson Universities, A.R.F.Y.O.C Simon Zavarian Toronto Chapter, Armen Karo Students’ Organization, Armenian Association of Toronto Youth Group, Armenian Catholic Youth Association, St Mary Armenian Apostolic Church Christian Education Committee.

It’s Day 2 of the hunger strike, and surprisingly, hunger hasn’t crept up on me yet. At first, I was confused at the prospect of not being hungry after going without food for 38 hours, but after some thought came to a surprising conclusion. The reason that I, and many of my fellow strikers don’t feel hungry is because we are mentally prepared to stay strong.

Hundreds of people were gathered together across from the Armenian Consulate in Glendale Tuesday evening, joined in solidarity with 34 young Armenians holding a hunger strike against the Turkey-Armenia protocols set to be signed on Friday.

Leading Russian-Armenian organizations joined popular online news sites in opposing the Armenia-Turkey protocols by issuing a terse announcement Tuesday, ahead of President Serzh Sarkisian’s visit to Rostov on the last leg of his Diaspora tour.

Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian was greeted by thousands of angry demonstrators as he arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday to discuss with the local Armenian community plans to establish ties with Turkey.
